Aquatic ecosystems in the Upper Klamath Basin have been degraded due to historical land-use changes, including logging, dams, cattle grazing, and irrigated agriculture. The Upper Klamath Basin Watershed Action Plan (UKB WAP) is an adaptive planning tool designed to guide and prioritize future restoration projects in the Upper Klamath Basin (UKB).

Collaborative Development
The WAP identifies restoration opportunities through a Restoration Prioritization Framework, developed by FlowWest in collaboration with key community and agency partners. Created for The Klamath Tribes in 2017, the WAP and its tools guide restoration planning, design, monitoring, and adaptive management based on the best available information.

Science-Based Implementation
Using the best available science, the WAP achieves successful ecological outcomes by increasing the pace and scale of voluntary habitat restoration and water quality improvement projects. FlowWest’s tools help practitioners analyze data on ecological impairments and direct efforts where restoration or further study is most needed.
