Senior Engineer, Anna Kladzyk Constantino, to Lead Workshop at California Adaptation Forum

FlowWest is thrilled to be participating in the biennial California Adaptation Forum. FlowWest has been working at the forefront of climate vulnerability assessment, adaptation planning, and climate resilience strategy development for nearly a decade. The Forum will be held this year in Pomona, CA from 7/31-8/2, and promises to be an inclusive gathering bringing together folks approaching this complex work from different perspectives–in order to expand climate resilience across the State. In our climate adaptation work, we have grown to appreciate the deep importance of creating spaces for diverse voices to be heard and how empathic practice is necessary for building pathways to climate resilience.

Adaptation Expert

Anna Kladzyk Constantino has represented FlowWest many times at similar events around California. Having worked at FlowWest for 8+ years, Anna has extensive expertise in climate adaptation planning, particularly for Tribal Nations, and is proud to partner with Others Unlimited to deliver this workshop.

To that end, FlowWest is collaborating with Others Unlimited to bring a new workshop to the Forum attendees: ‘Empathy for Earthlings: a workshop in holistic perspective-taking.’ The workshop has been developed by ethnographer and Others Unlimited CEO Karen Faith and FlowWest Senior Engineer, Anna Kladzyk Constantino; and will be an experiential learning session in cognitive perspective-taking at the level of person-to-person, and person-to-planet. Workshop participants will first unpack the three types of empathy: Affective (feeling), Somatic (experiencing), and Cognitive (understanding) with each other, and then apply this methodology to our natural environment. Participants will then dive into applying the perspectives of the greater living world to strategic decision-making around climate adaptation.

Looking forward to seeing you at CAF and consider signing up for the workshop! Tickets are available at the California Adaptation Forum website.
