Mark Tompkins to Attend NAS Policy Forum on Nature Based Solutions

FlowWest founder Dr. Mark Tompkins to participate in National Academy of Sciences Policy Forum on Nature Based Solutions in Washington, D.C. February 7-8.

The forum will address policy development, constraints and opportunities, equitable and inclusive engagement, and best practices needed to accelerate implementation of nature based solutions. Mark will share insights from over twenty years of floodplain management and research focused on human and ecosystem needs. He will also discuss the need for open data and open source software tools to effectively track and manage performance of nature based solutions. 

Mark is an alumni of the National Academy’s Frontiers of Engineering program. He co-chaired the Indo-American Frontiers Symposium in Mysore, India and participated in the German-American and Arab-American Frontiers symposia.
